RWG receives CO2 compensation certificate
On Thursday, 12 May, Ronald Lugthart, CEO of RWG, received the CO2 compensation certificate for the investment in offsetting the current, limited CO2 emissions.
At the end of 2021, RWG announced its investment in a fully CO2 neutral operation at the terminal in Rotterdam. To reduce emissions to zero, several adjustments are required. During the journey towards zero emissions, it is technically not possible to prevent all emissions immediately. Therefore, RWG has entered into a partnership with Shell distributor OQ Value to compensate for the remaining CO2 emissions through the Nature Based Solutions programme. These are projects aimed at protecting and restoring natural areas, through which CO2 is absorbed by nature.
The certificate was presented by Bram Dorresteijn, Account Manager at OQ Value, and Ralph van den Ouden, Key Account Manager Commercial Fuels Benelux at Shell Nederland, in the presence of Jeroen van Esch, Chief Operating Officer at RWG, and Marcel van Duffelen, Manager QHSSE at RWG.
